| KM Electronics
Ltd is based in Lowestoft on the East Anglian coast. We specialise in
the supply of all brands of marine electrical and electronic
equipment both over the counter at our base located on the former Brooke Marine Ship yard, and through our secure website www.yachtbits.com, the
very first UK based secure online shop for marine electronics.
Lowestoft was historically a
combined fishing and commercial port with extensive ship building
facilities. The fishing fleets have reduced due to depleted fish stocks
and European quota limitation's. The heavy commercial traffic has also reduced
from its heyday and the major shipyards have now gone.
But in place
of these activities, the port is going through significant grow in
leisure boating and smaller workboats. The workboat fleets are primarily split between windfarm support and tanker support duties. Tanker support vessels provide crew and provisions transfer to the many tankers that anchor just off Lowestoft.
Over the last couple of years
Lowestoft has seen local boatyards installing marina quality pontoon
berths. The port operators, Associated British Ports, have to date,
installed two brand new marina developments with more to come.
Lowestoft also provides the Southern
Gateway to the Broads via Locks at Oulton Broad.
This diversified marine activity
means the customer base of KM Electronics Ltd has varied from fitting a navigation light onto a 2.4mtr inflatable Lifeboat for the RNLI, right up to navigation equipment for 80mtr offshore salavge tugs, and
everything in between!
